I can’t believe my baby girl is 1! It seems like yesterday that my water broke (thankfully I had stayed home that day) and Ryan drove like a mad man to get to me. I was in labor for 23 hours, but it was all worth it! We knew from the minute she was born that she was strong. The nurses laid her on my chest and she lifted her little neck to look up at me! She has not slowed down one second since then.
Madalyn has mastered walking and is all over the place! She is almost running at times! She absolutely loves books. Her favorites now are “Ten Little Fingers and Ten Little Toes”, “Llama Llama Red Pajama” and “Moo Baa La La La”. She loves stuffed animals and her favorites are her bunny – Cotton – and her lamb – Huggins (in all of her monthly pictures). I love every time she walks into her nursery she sees the lamb in her rocking chair and says “Hi!” and goes to get him. Madalyn is saying a few words – Hi, mama, dada, dog, that, and toes. She says “that!” and points to everything she sees and then giggles when we tell her what it is. But she seems to understand SO much. She loves water – splashing, running around in it, and throwing things into it! She still doesn’t have any teeth, but we think one is coming soon. Her favorite foods are hot dogs, puffs, blueberry yogurt and cheese. She LOVES water and chugs it every chance she gets. She loves our dogs and Lilly puts up with everything. She climbs on her, gives her all her toys, and finds her toes all the time! Lucy likes to lay around and catch all the scraps of food.
Our lives are so different these days, but it’s hard to remember what they were like before. I never would’ve thought that I would want to stay home, but she helped me make that decision and it’s the best one I could’ve made. I am thankful for every minute I get to spend with her. I love watching her learn and explore. She is such a little light – full of giggles, hugs, and just the cutest things we could ever imagine.
As everyone says, she is well photographed (guilty!) – but I can’t promise I’ll stop any time soon. Here’s a look back at her first year!
